Viagra or the "Blue Pill" was developed and distrubted by Pfizer's Sandwich, a research facility in England. Originally developed to help men with hypertension angina pectoris "a chronic heart disease", Viagra later was used to help men maintain penile erections and made famous by it, being used as the number 1 erectile dysfunction pill in the world.
After research on the chronic heart disease medicine revealed that the ingredient Sildenafil gave men erections Pzifer began to market the product as the answer to erectile dysfunction. After getting patented by the FDA, Viagra was marketed on the 28th of March, 1988. Viagra became such a success is was recorded from the years 1999-2001 the "blue pill" had sold over 1 billion capsules. Being endorsed by such figures as soccer player Pele, and senator and campaign runner Bob Dole, Viagra was telecasted as a non prescription pill.
By 2007, Viagra's perecentage hold on the world's sales dropped dramatically due to it's new rivals "Levitra" and "Cialis" After more counterfeit brands enetered the market, Viagra decided to make the product "over the counter" and only 4 packets at a time and only with a doctor's approval. The market speculates that Viagra will reach it's expiration by 2011-2013.
