Not filling out prescriptions

Tuesday, 19/07/2011

In recent studies, a large percentage of patients who are being prescribed medication tied in with chornic diseases such as high blood pressure don't even fill out their first prescription at the pharmacy, even when in most cases filling out a prescription with recomendations from the doctor can save patients money in the long run. Reasons showing that sometimes the patient doesn't even feel the need for medication therefore doesn't feel the need to take it. Many chronic illnesses from the beginning do not show any symptoms until later on in the process, therefore it is very important that the patient begin taking the necessary drugs from the start.

Also prescriptions that are very expensive tend to persuade users to simply cut down on how much they buy. Studies also show that some medication that seems too complex to fill out confuses the patients all together and therefore they don't know exactly where to start.

Five very useful questions that are recomended to ask in pharmacies before purchasing medication are as stated:

1. How do I apply the medication in the correct way?

2. Are there any possible side effects?

3. Why is it important to stick to the exact directions?

4. What about other supplements, or drugs, how will they interact with this medication?

5. How can I save money without doing further damage to my health?
